Dusky ("we", "us", "the app") is a unified messaging application built by Dusky. This policy explains what data we collect, how we use it, and your rights.

1. What We Collect

Account data: When you create a Dusky account, we store your email address and display name. We use these for authentication and to identify you within the app.

Messages you send through Dusky: Messages sent through native Dusky messaging are stored on our servers to deliver them to recipients. Messages from connected third-party platforms (WhatsApp, Telegram, etc.) are processed on your device and are not stored on our servers.

Connected services: When you connect Google services (Gmail, Calendar, Drive), Dusky accesses your data through Google's OAuth 2.0 protocol. We use the following scopes:

• Gmail (read, send, modify): To display your email in the unified inbox, send emails on your behalf, and manage labels/read status. Email content is processed in real-time and not stored on our servers beyond delivery.
• Google Calendar: To display and create calendar events.
• Google Drive: To search and access files you explicitly request.

AI features: When you use AI features, your prompts and relevant context are sent to third-party AI providers (Anthropic, Google) for processing. We do not store your AI conversations on our servers beyond the current session.

Device data: Dusky stores messaging data, contacts, encryption keys, and AI embeddings locally on your device. This data never leaves your device unless you explicitly choose to sync it.

2. What We Do NOT Collect

• We do not sell your data to anyone.
• We do not use your data for advertising.
• We do not store your WhatsApp or Telegram messages on our servers.
• We do not store your Google account passwords or OAuth tokens on our servers — these remain on your device.
• We do not track your browsing activity outside of Dusky.

3. How We Use Google API Data

Dusky's use and transfer of information received from Google APIs adheres to the Google API Services User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements.

Specifically:

• We only use Google data to provide and improve the app's messaging and productivity features for you.
• We do not transfer Google data to third parties except as necessary to provide the app's features, comply with applicable law, or as part of a merger/acquisition with prior notice.
• We do not use Google data for serving advertisements.
• We do not allow humans to read your Google data unless you give explicit consent, it is necessary for security purposes, or it is required by law.

4. Data Storage and Security

Your private messaging data (WhatsApp messages, Telegram messages, contacts, encryption keys) is stored locally on your device using encrypted storage. It is never transmitted to our servers.

Account data and native Dusky messages are stored on servers hosted by Hetzner (EU) with encryption at rest and in transit.

AI embeddings (semantic representations of your messages, not the messages themselves) may be synced to our servers if you enable cross-device sync. These embeddings cannot be reversed into original message text.

5. Third-Party Services

Dusky integrates with the following third-party services:

• Anthropic (Claude): AI processing. Subject to Anthropic's Privacy Policy.
• Google (Gemini, Gmail, Calendar, Drive): AI processing and productivity. Subject to Google's Privacy Policy.
• WhatsApp: Messaging via the companion device protocol. Subject to WhatsApp's Privacy Policy.

6. Your Rights

You can:

• Disconnect services: Revoke access to Google, WhatsApp, Telegram, or any connected service at any time from the app's settings.
• Delete your account: Contact us and we will delete all server-side data associated with your account within 30 days.
• Export your data: Request a copy of all data we store about you.
• Revoke Google access: Visit Google Account Permissions to revoke Dusky's access at any time.

7. Children's Privacy

Dusky is not directed to children under 13. We do not knowingly collect data from children under 13.

8. Changes to This Policy

We may update this policy from time to time. We will notify you of significant changes through the app or by email.
